Souper Bowl of Caring

Sunday, February 5

The youth of Westminster invite you to join with us in helping to alleviate hunger in the Dallas area through Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday, February 5, 2012.

More than 20 years ago the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC.  The prayer was:

“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day more than $81 million has been raised for local charities across the country through the Souper Bowl of Caring.  The donations we collect will be given to North Dallas Shared Ministries, 2875 Merrell Rd., Dallas.  NDSM has no source to purchase the following items at a reduced cost and therefore depend entirely on your donations to enhance the pantry selection:

peanut butter, ramen noodles, salt,

coffee, tea, breakfast cereal

canned items: tuna, salmon, carrots, black-eyed peas, squash, sweet potatoes, potatoes, pears,

pineapple, mixed fruit

You can help us fight hunger in the Dallas area by bringing food to church on Sunday, Feb. 5.  You can also write a check payable to Westminster Presbyterian Church with “souper bowl of caring” in the memo line.

Thank You!!! The Youth of WPC
